PCY meet change up
Hi Everyone!
So we have some disappointing news followed up with some great news. Floyd County in Indiana has fallen under the category of a red state meaning there are no gatherings allowed. However, we have been able to secure our own home branch to swim our meet the same weekend and same times here at Northeast so we can still have the meet:
Friday: 7:30 for the long distance events
Saturday: 4:30 13 and overs
Sunday: 5:00 which may have to be split up into two sessions with 10 and unders at 5 and 11-12s at 7:30
To answer anyone who is wondering about only having 2 blocks, yes, the meet will be ran with only two lanes but will still turn out to be a pretty quick meet! Is this the grand pool at Miami of Ohio we have had the opportunity to swim, compete and gather at in the past? No, it certainly isn't. But it is a body of water and that is all a swimmer need to show up and give it their best!
Swimmers will be socially distanced similarly to how our Virtual Sprint Meet was held at Floyd County except swimmers will be spread out through the lobby and in the Chapel in chairs spaced 6 feet apart. At this point in the season and in our journey swimming through Covid, we are just thankful we have a space to hold these events so swimmers have a chance to compete and log their times!
Reminder that anyone who has signed up as an unattached USA swimmer, this is a USA sanctioned meet so your times will be in the USA Swimming database. Please know that if anyone has any questions regarding USA swimming and want to further their understanding, please do not hesitate to reach out to us coaches. That is what we are here for!
Please make sure you sign up in time for this meet on Swimtopia and volunteer as a timer so we can make this meet happen. As our motto states, a team and family unit cannot happen alone, it is truly a "WE, not ME" approach. As always, we are forever grateful for your time!
Much more details to come this week so please stay tuned. We do our best to tell our swimmers that although this season has been challenging and full of change and some disappointments, we will hopefully grow a deeper appreciation for what the heart of this sport means to us and learn to seize the opportunities we DO have with enthusiasm! Please jump on board with reiterating this to them at home. As always, thanks for being apart of our Tsunami family and we will see you at practice.
Ride the wave,
Cosch Shannon, Cavan and Madeline
