Welcome to the exhilarating world of competitive swimming with the Tsunami Swim Club, proudly located at the Northeast Family YMCA. Rooted in the core values of the YMCA, our club is dedicated to fostering a high-quality competitive environment while embodying the YMCA's mission "to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy mind, body, and spirit for all."
More than just a swim team, Tsunami Swim Club is deeply committed to shaping and strengthening the character of each swimmer. We build a program of excellence designed around the idea of teaching our youth to develop a growth mindset. Our approach challenges swimmers every day—both in practices and at home—to be the best possible person, finding motivation through hard work, growth, caring for each other, perseverance, and overcoming adversity.
Our League and Philosophy
Tsunami Swim Club is proud to be a part of the Kentucky YMCA Central Swim League (KYCSL), formerly of the Southern Indiana and Kentucky YMCA Swim League (KIYSL). KYCSL is affiliated with National YMCA Swimming and Diving (Y-USA), adhering to rules and regulations that embody the YMCA's core values and principles of Youth Development, Honesty, Caring, Respect, and Responsibility. This affiliation allows our swimmers to pursue higher aspirations within the Louisville swimming scene while maintaining a focus on character development and sportsmanship.

As a youth sport within the YMCA, our mission is to foster youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. At Tsunami Swim Club, we embrace these principles wholeheartedly. We believe in creating an inclusive and supportive environment where every swimmer can thrive, develop their skills, and build lasting friendships.

At Tsunami, we are more than just teammates. We are a supportive community where each member contributes both in and out of the pool. We encourage and uplift one another through every challenge and triumph, fostering friendships and camaraderie that extend beyond the water. We maintain a "team first" atmosphere by promoting pride in self and team—WE not ME!
Developing Skills and Confidence
We are dedicated to developing swimmers’ skills and confidence by improving stroke mechanics and creating an environment of positive reinforcement. Our goal is to cultivate a passion for competitive swimming and to instill lifelong healthy habits, both in and out of the pool.

*Inclusion in the KYCSL offers swimmers an opportunity to attend the Y-USA Great Lakes Regional Zones in Ohio each year (with qualifying time cuts attained individually or collectively as in a relay) as well as an opportunity to achieve time cuts for Y-USA Nationals in Greensboro, NC. We represent the Northeast Family YMCA of Greater Louisville at all the meets (Y-USA swimming is separate from USA swimming).
