Tsunami Update
Hi All!
I hope everyone is well during and staying safe. We are in some unpredictable times and anxiety as to what the future will be for us and our children can be overwhelming. As we strive for some sense of normalcy, there are many unknowns heading into the fall. I know on my end, things have been quiet so I just wanted to update everyone as I have gotten more information.
At Tsunami, we pride ourselves on the YMCA value and mission of Youth Development and engagement. This is especially important during this time. We have been working relentlessly with the YMCA to have the team safely return to the pool.
As you may recall, I was in talks with the YMCA regarding a summer swim team before COVID. Our program didn't have a summer component to it during my 6.5 years at the YMCA, and so as demand/interest dictated, we were ready to add that to our program to be a successful and competitive YMCA program. We can and will compete with anyone!
As YMCA's all across the county work to figure out how to rebuild their membership base and the safe re-engagement of participants in youth sports, this certainly holds true for our YMCA so THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE!!
I still expect to have a swim team this fall at the YMCA. We have a KYCSL league Zoom meeting next Monday and I have been in contact with National YMCA swimming.
As we work to figure this out, we certainly will have a different team structure and social distancing and contact between swimmers and parents will be much different. Entrance and exit points at our Y will be different as will swim meets. This holds true for all swim clubs in Kentucky and Clubs across the Country.
In the coming days, we will send out a Google form for you to fill out so we can gage who will be returning this fall. Please keep an eye out for this email and I will also post the link to the form on our website & Facebook Group Page.
Lastly, we are always sad to loose any families/swimmers. I wish those of you who have left Tsunami that I have spoken to and those I have not well. Please know that you are always welcome to return at any point!
Ride the Wave.....Go Tsunami!!
