PCY Winter Invitational Results
Hi All!
Attached are the results from the weekend. Let me first say that there were over 1200 swimmers at this meet encompassing 22 YMCAs. This is/was the biggest non-time standard meet in the region and the biggest non-time standard meet Tsunami has ever attended.
WE held onto 5th place overall and only 66kids!! Our girls got 4th and our boys got 7th overall. Very, very impressive!
First time WE have gone to this meet and WE are proud owners of a Meet Record in the 11-12 girls 200 free relay!! The record was from 2013 and Tsunami smashed it by 3 seconds! WE had two swimmers go under 6:00 in the 500 free (Curtis & Ella) for the first time in Club history; four swimmers swim the 1000 for the first time (Kyla, Jenna, Ethan & Curtis) in Club history and do VERY well in the event and we had just about every swimmer drop time in their events. WE added more Zone cuts to our Club repertoire increasing the number of swimmers going this year to 11. With the potential to have around 16 possibly 20 qualify!
BUT what impressed the coaches the most, is the fact that everyone helped each other get to their events and helped each other figure out how to maneuver the meet. WE were one of a few YMCAs that actively cheered on each other for just about every race! And that wasn't easy given the two pools. WE were ready for this meet and it showed.
It also showed that the kids (for the most part) took the instruction each coach offers throughout the year and they applied it in their races without one of us hover over them or reminding them to NOT do this, or TO do this, etc. That showed us they are capable of listening and implementing the process of our Club's philosophy towards swimming. WAY TO GO!!! Also very impressive.
So let us enjoy this time in our Club history and in our season because they earned it!! HOWEVER, don't let up, 12&Unders, because we have another BIG meet this Sunday and we need to defend our victory last year!
P.S. don't forget to check on our website for Club records....43 new ones were born this weekend!
WE not ME!
Ride the Wave........GO TSUNAMI!!
