Tsunami Coaching Staff Announcements

Hi All!

As we go through a few coaching transitions for the upcoming season, we most certainly will experience mixed emotions. The bonds formed from the relationships with the departing coaches were strong for a great many of you, including myself. And so as we watch one door close, a new door opens which gives way to an opportunity of establishing new relationships and hopefully new bonds.

And while we sometimes tend to be more comfortable with the known and not so much with the unknown, we work towards overcoming our fear of the new and forge ahead down the path of the unknown. The excitement of establishing new bonds with new faces hopefully should be a step taken with eventual enthusiasm!

As head coach, I want everyone to know that the core foundations, culture, mission and team values that, with the help of implementation from Stephanie, I brought to the team have taken solid root. And as long as I am leading the way, they will remain in place.

Our team values of honesty, respect, responsibility, teamwork and trust and our mission to instill confidence and skill in each swimmer while building a Y-USA swim club that radiates excellence year in and year out will also remain. Therefore, the coaching staff that we bring on to coach, mentor, and teach your swimmers must also reflect these values.

I am pleased to announce that we have two wonderful additions to our already passionate coaching staff. Shannon Venable and Jesse Rozsa.

Shannon comes to us from a long line of coaching (grandfather, father, brother, uncle) as well as experience herself in coaching at the USA, and summer team levels as well as serving as senior aquatics director and head swim coach at Five Seasons Family Sports Club. She has been at the YMCA the past few years teaching swim lessons and some fitness classes in addition to running CPR and First Aid classes for new lifeguards.

Jesse has been teaching swim lessons at the Northeast YMCA and has a competitive swimming background (USA, High School, University Club swimming and Masters). Jesse swam in the 2015 master's nationals in Cleveland. He taught swimming technique for 8 years to all ages as well as coaching the US masters swim team for 1 year before moving to Louisville where he is currently working on his masters degree in Molecular Genetics.

Please help me in welcoming Shannon and Jesse to the Tsunami coaching staff!! And.... you may be able to meet them at our Calypso Cove party on July 28th from 7-9pm.......
